Carbon ended the 3A Girls’ State Golf Championship in fifth place. The championship consisted of two rounds from Tuesday to Wednesday. Emery missed the cut on Tuesday by 13 strokes.

Jordan Bianco led the Lady Dinos in both rounds with 91 and 83 strokes, respectively. Carbon ended the rounds with a combined 761 strokes. Richfield took first to win the state title (632), Morgan earned second (738), Grand finished in third (752) and Providence Hall took fourth (756).

“It was true girls’ golf. Mother Nature was not kind on day one. We had a hard time finding ‘it,'” said head coach Kenji Otani. “But, we redeemed ourselves a little on day two. The girls gave it their all and that is all I can ask. I’m proud of each and every one of them.”

Bianco made First Team All State once again after she was tied for sixth at the conclusion of the championship. Sam King ended tied for 16th and Aubrey Fausett ended tied for 20th. Those finishes were good enough to help them make Second Team All State.

The Dinos were also awarded the 3A Team GPA Award for the highest team GPA. “Sometimes, we forget the student part of student athlete, but it means a great deal to me. Again, I am very proud of my team,” concluded Otani.
