The fourth annual 4-H Working Ranch Horse Gathering in Castle Dale at the Blue Sage Arena took place on Saturday. There were thirty kids from around the state of Utah that participated. They were judged on a test, sorting cows, reining, heeling and heading.

There are three categories of ages including junior, intermediate and senior. There were six contestants in the junior, 16 in the intermediate and eight in the senior category.

“The kids really like this program because it teaches them horsemanship so they can compete in other places,” said Gaylene Conder. “I want to thank the Travel Council for donating such nice prizes.”

During this event, raffle tickets were sold and many donated prizes. The money earned will be donated to the Jacobson family.

Once everyone had been judged, prizes were given away. Some of the prizes were rope bags, splint boots, halters, spur straps, buckets, reins, roping heads, hoodies, horse blankets, saddle blankets, breast collars and a saddle was given away to the winner in each of the three categories.
