To kick start Saturday’s International Days celebrations, the Run with Scissors event took place beginning at the Aaron Jones Dorm at USU Eastern. Children and adults could be seen running the streets of Price for this 5K.
The proceeds from this event benefited United Way of Eastern Utah’s backpack program to help fill school backpacks for Carbon and Emery county students in need. There were approximately 45 runners that ran.
Fifteen-year-old Anthony Jones crossed the finish line first with a time of 20.18. Fellow fifteen-year-old runner Jacob Jewkes finished just 14 seconds after Jones with a time of 20.32. Isaac Morley also finished the 5K in under 21 minutes with a time of 20.56, good for a third-place finish.
This event came to be through the coordination of United Way and Carbon County Recreation. Additional school supply donations are still being accepted at the United Way office in Price.
