624 National Guard Company Conducts Change of Command Ceremony

Sunday morning there was a buzz of activity at the Price National Guard Armory as the 624 National Guard Company had a change of command. Captain Christopher Vernon handed over command of the 624th to Captain David Jensen in a short ceremony.

Over the weekend, beginning on Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17 the 624 conducted drills in the area. Friday morning there was a physical test (PT) inside the compound. Guardsman had to make it through push ups, sit ups and other physical tests. After the testing, the entire company headed to Airport Road for a two mile run.

The rest of the weekend was spent inventorying equipment that was brought home from Afghanistan.

The 624 Engineering Company is made up of 156 soldiers from Logan to Blanding. The Price Armory is the headquarter for the company and there are 14 members from the Carbon and Emery county areas alone. Sgt. James Allred is the recruiting and retention specialist and his goal is to double that number soon.
