Price City Councilmen held a special meeting just before noon Thursday to decide on the use of fireworks during the upcoming holidays.

With Carbon County and Helper already adopting bans on all fireworks, it was though that Price City would follow suit.

The final decision was that Price City Fire Chief Paul Bedont would have the final say on fireworks. He was given the authority to designate areas where fireworks wouldn’t be allowed.

Additionally, fireworks may not be set off within 150 feet of an undeveloped parcel of property or within the outskirts of the city of the same distance.

Two of the five councilmen, Kathy Hanna-Smith and Rick Davis, voted against the rules. They desired a full ban on fireworks as Carbon County and Helper had adopted.

The new rules and regulations took effectВ immediately.
