The refreshments tantalized the taste buds on Wednesday at a gathering in Matsuda Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. Many guests asked “What’s in this? It’s delicious.” It’s not surprising that Tera and Malarie Matsuda could impress their guests with a spiced drink and other appetizers. While guests ate, the Matsuda’s explained what they could offer at their business, treating “anything from pain to irritable bowel syndrome,” using herbal medicine and acupuncture.

The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting that day to commemorate the opening of Matsuda Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. After the ceremony, the chamber presented Tera with his first dollar of business.

Acupuncture helps in a way unique to a 5000-year-old profession.

“Something that has been done for thousands of years by trial and error is bound to be effective,” said Tera. Tera has a master of science degree in oriental medicine.
