The Emery County School District hosted its regular monthly board meeting Tuesday evening at San Rafael Junior High. At the meeting, the school board interviewed nine qualified candidates to fill the empty seat on the board.
The board members asked each candidate a series of questions before reviewing each candidate and casting their votes. The votes were collected and tallied by superintendent Kirk Sitterud and business superintendent Jared Black.
Before announcing the results, president Laurel Johansen stated, “Anyone of you could have been on our board.” She went on to encourage them to keep trying and not to give up.
Julie Wilson was announced as the newly appointed board member and was sworn in by Black.
The other candidates were Carol Cox, Jan Hansen, Pam Howard, Carl Jacobson, Tracy Johnson, Dennis Jones, LuAnn Koch and Drew Leroy.
