Manti-La Sal National Forest Public Affairs Specialist Rosann Fillmore has confirmed, as well as Carbon County Commissioners at their meeting Wednesday, that a fire has started in the Range Creek area of Nine Mile Canyon.
The fire, which hasn’t received an official name yet, started this afternoon. It is not known if the fire was caused by human activity or lightning.
The fire started on state land and has spread quickly to BLM land, Fillmore said.
