The Emery High girl’s golf team started their season strong Tuesday with a win over Grand and San Juan in Moab.

The Utah High School Athletics Association (UHSAA) has chosen to use the modified stableford scoring method for all girl’s golf teams. This adjusted method allows for competitions to play faster and allows less-experienced players to have a better competitive golf experience.

Standout players from Emery included Sydney Guymon who shot 30 and took first overall. Sarah Swasey claimed third overall with a score of 28.

Other scores from Emery include Alyssa Garrett with 20, Sidnee Timothy with 17, Sabryna Mead with 13 and Erin Oliverson with five. The team totaled 95 points.

The Lady Spartans will tee off again Tuesday for another tournament in St. George.
