Jared Shakespeare, David Dyer, and Tanner Lake all found the end zone for the Emery Spartans in a critical 2A North matchup with the Millard Eagles Friday night. Millard pushed past Emery in the second half en route to a 41-21 win.
Emery tied the score at 14 with just seconds remaining in the second quarter on a Spencer Labrum to Dyer 16-yard touchdown pass to regain the momentum going into halftime.
Millard running backs Jesse Rhodes and Jeremy Aleman, though, took control in the second half to lead the Eagles to the important region victory.
Millard (5-1, 3-1 2A North) now sits in a tie for second place with South Summit. With the loss, Emery (4-2, 2-2 2A North) fell into a tie for third with North Summit and Gunnison.
The Spartans will next travel to Gunnison (2-4, 2-2 2A North) September 28.
