Thursday night, the Emery County Historical Society gathered together in the Castle Dale court house to listen to a speech by George Peacock.

George Peacock, originally from Orangeville, came from St. George to share his experiences with his research of the Mountain Meadow Massacre. The massacre occurred in 1857, killing around 120 emigrants in Southern Utah. Peacock and a friend found that the place where the memorial currently stands may not actually be the place where the massacre occurred and set out to find the true location, which after much research and determination, they succeeded in doing.
George has also written a couple of books; one being, Unlocking the Numbers, which is his study of how numbers are used as symbols in the scriptures in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The other book is called Unlocking the Idioms; his study of idioms found in the scriptures and the importance of identifying and finding means of these phrases.
