Both Campuses of USU Eastern will hold their commencement exercises next weekend.
There will be 313 graduates accepting degrees. Each Campus will hold their own graduation ceremonies.
The Blanding Campus in San Juan will begin Friday, April 26 at 1:00 pm. The Price Campus ceremonies will start at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 27.
The top ten Associates Degrees that will be awarded between the two campuses are: Associate of Arts, RN Nursing, LPN Nursing, Criminal Justice, Medical Assisting, Welding, Business, Cosmetology and Accounting.
The commencement speaker in Blanding will be Shirlee Silversmith, Learning for Life (an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America) Director and formerly an Indian Education Specialist for the Utah State Office of Education.
The student speakers for Blanding will be McKale Simpson (Blanding, Utah) and General Major Lorraine Rose (Blanding, Utah) Nursing Major.
At Price Campus, alumna, Nicole Young will be the speaker. She is VP of Business Development of Mandalay Entertainment Group of Los Angeles. Mandalay Entertainment Group is a leader in providing high quality motion pictures, cutting edge television, professional sports events and location-based entertainment to a worldwide audience.
Price valedictorians: Jordan Sanders (Castle Dale, Utah) Business Major, Salutatorian Sung Jae Park (Daegu, South Korea) Nursing Major, Student Body President Matt Gochis (Stansbury Park, Utah) Recreation Major.
The Chancellor’s Medallion recipients from the Blanding Campus are: Doug Allen, Mayor, Monticello, Utah, Owner of Blue Mountain Food and Chair of the Advisory Board Phil Lyman, local CPA and San Juan County Commissioner.
In Price the recipients are: Major General (Retired) Lynn Stevens: Vice President, Northrop Grumman Corporation, former San Juan County Commissioner, Director Public Land Policy under Governor Jon Huntsman, former Trustee for College of Eastern Utah and current member Regional Advisory Board Utah State University Eastern
