The Carbon Dinos jumped out to a quick 10-point lead in the first quarter over the Richfield Wildcats Wednesday night but couldn’t maintain the hot start and lost their second Region 12 contest, 58-46.
Gage Daugherty and Mitch Olson each hit two threes in the first quarter and Kyle Quinton added a three-point play at the end of the period to give the Dinos a 19-10 lead.
Richfield chipped away at the Carbon lead over the next two quarters and took its first lead of the game at the 2:45 mark of the third quarter on a field goal underneath the basket. The Wildcats outscored the cold-shooting Dinos 15-6 in the quarter.
Jamin Jensen’s runner in the lane at the 3:24 mark of the fourth got Carbon within three, 47-44. Richfield finished the game on an 11-2 run to get the victory.
Olson led the Dinos with 11 points. Daugherty had 10 points, including three threes. Quinton finished with seven points.
Carbon (9-8, 1-2 Region 12) will host Juab (6-6, 0-2 Region 12) on Friday night at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
