Price City Police Department Press Release
On Saturday, Price City Police Officer Drew Olson made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation at approximately 1:30 a.m. The vehicle was traveling on westbound Highway 6. Upon contacting the male driver and male passenger, officer Olson found both subjects were from out of state but claiming to be current residents of the Davis County area.
Through the process of talking with the driver and occupant, it was discovered the driver allegedly had no documentation to show registration or insurance on the vehicle. As officer Olson was talking with the occupants of the vehicle, the alleged odor of fresh marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sean Ryan Mansfield, DOB 10-1-85, allegedly admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, officer Olson located several marijuana dispensary bottles that contained suspected marijuana and located were several paper bags with a Colorado flag explaining medicinal marijuana. Also located in the vehicle were THC pills and THC chocolate almonds (inside another Colorado flag paper bag). Also located inside the vehicle were other items of paraphernalia used in the consumption of marijuana.
Both occupants were interviewed and admitted they made a trip to Colorado to purchase marijuana. There was a total of 23.6 grams of marijuana from five different dispensary bottles, 18 THC “Relax Pills” and numerous items of paraphernalia seized as a result of the traffic stop.
Sean Ryan Mansfield, DOB 7-24-82, was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Open Container and traffic offenses associated with the traffic stop. Collin Robert Zwiebel, the male passenger, was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and an active arrest warrant.
Mansfield was found to have three prior arrests with one prior conviction for a drug related offense. Zwiebel was found to have no prior arrests.
Residents should be aware that even though there is currently legislation being discussed regarding the legalization of medical marijuana, it is still illegal to possess, purchase, consume or transport marijuana in the State of Utah.
