The students of Cottonwood Elementary have been working hard to help a special young girl, Averie Ward.
Ward has a rare childhood cancer and is undergoing intense chemo and radiation treatments as well as surgery to fight this cancer. To help Ward, the students and staff of Cottonwood hosted a fundraiser.
The sixth grade students even donated an entire day’s worth of money that they collected from their Hot Chocolate Wars project completed during recess. Hot chocolate was sold by the students as part of a math project. A total of $744.23 was raised with the sixth grade students raising $224.32 of that amount for young Averie.
