At the Castle Dale City Council meeting held Tuesday, it was announced that the Castle Dale Building Commission would award the bid for the new building to Brubaker Construction.

Brubaker Construction is based in Park City and submitted the lowest bid. According to vice chairman of the commission Mayor Danny Van Wagoner no local general contractors submitted a bid. The bidding was very close and was below the estimated cost of the building.

This building will house offices for three entities in Castle Dale City; water conservancy office, Castle Valley Special Service District and Castle Dale City. Each will have its own office space but conference rooms, restrooms and storage areas will be shared. This made the building cost effective for all three entities.

The new building will be located on the corner of 100 East and Main Street and will be approximately 14,000 square feet with entrances on the east and south sides of the building. Parking will also be on the south side. Plans call for the building to be set back from the curb for green space and Seely memorial benches.

Construction is scheduled to begin immediately with a completion date of February 2017.

Other action included a discussion of the county EMS plan, which was tabled until more information was available. A motion was then made to postpone indefinitely the overage water bill at Emery High School that passed three to one.

Concerned citizens expressed concern for the condition of the streets in the southeast section of town following the high school rodeo. There were also questions about finding ample parking for horse trailers and horses around the Blue Sage Arena.

The city sent a letter to the LDS Church wishing to terminate the lease on the park on 100 East and 100 North.

Finally, with secondary water now available, Doug Moreno, enforcement officer, will make sure the city watering schedule is followed. The schedule is to water three times per week from 5-10 a.m. or from 5-10 p.m.
