Clell W. Mortensen, age 85, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his son’s home in Logandale, Nevada. He was born March 7, 1931 in Emery, Utah to Niels Clifford and Melva Christiansen Mortensen. On July 28, 1951 he married Anna Jeannette Mortensen in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2016.
Clell lived in many areas of Utah but loved the desert plateaus and mountains of Emery County. After he married Jeannette, they settled into Salt Lake City to raise their family, while he worked for Rocky Mountain Bank Note Company. Retiring from a successful career as a printer, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Clell started a landscaping business. Moving back to his boyhood home, Clell tried his hand at coal mining and civil service. Tough economic times drove Clell and Jeannette back to Las Vegas where he worked at the Tropicana Golf Course. Once he decided to retire for good, they settled back into Emery, Utah.
Clell enjoyed tinkering around his workshop, manicuring his yard, making jewelry and telling stories, but mostly he loved being home with his Jeannette. He is now reunited with his sweetheart.
Survivors include his son, Wyatt (Connie) Mortensen of Logandale, NV; son in law Rick (Shauna) Withers of West Valley City, UT; six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two daughters, Marlene Riser and Teresa Ann Withers.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 12:00 pm at the LDS chapel in Emery, Utah. The graveside service will be held immediately following the viewing at the Emery Town Cemetery.
