Press Release
In what is intended to be an inspiration to younger students in Carbon School District, seniors who are graduating from Carbon High School on May 27 will be doing a Senior Walk through elementary schools during the week of May 23.
The schedule for the walk includes the following schools.
Sally Mauro – Monday, May 23rd at 9:00 a.m.
Bruin Point – Tuesday, May 24th at 12:30 p.m.
Creekview – Tuesday, May 24th 10:00 a.m.
Castle Heights – Thursday, May 26th 9:00 a.m.
Wellington – Thursday, May 26th 9:00 a.m.
“We want to extend the invitation to all seniors to participate in the initial launch of this event that we hope will become a tradition,” said Melissa Swenson, a counselor at Carbon High. “Students will be asked to dress in their cap and gown (jeans underneath is fine) and meet at their elementary school at the time and date that is set. For those who did not attend elementary school here, we are asking them to participate at the school nearest them or at the school where they may have connections such as relatives, friends, etc.”
The idea of seniors walking in their caps and gowns through elementary and other public schools has been catching on across the United States recently. Just this past week, a number of schools in Utah and other states have begun the now growing tradition.
