The 10th annual Rock, Fossil and Mineral Show was hosted at the Carbon County Event Center on Friday and Saturday. There were different types of rocks and minerals such as amethyst, goldstone, alabaster, jelly opal and blue celestite displayed.
There were many vendors with different experiences for the whole family.
“This event has been in Price for 10 years now,” event promoter Patrick Braun expressed. “There are vendors from Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. There are fossils, minerals, jewelry, gemstones and crystals, a little bit of everything, even demonstrations for the kids to enjoy.
“We have had four vendors that have come for the past 10 years,” Braun continued. “I like to see the vendor participation grow over the years. We have seen high crowds come from all over the state to the show. We wait for this event every year.”
The rocks and minerals come from all over the world with some of the participants buying and reselling them. Some of the rocks are part of old collections while some are found, cut and polished. Martha Tesfu, who sells rough opal, said it is inexpensive for the whole family to enjoy the show. Tesfu likes to attend the annual event because it is a fun chance to display her materials, which come from East Africa.
“I like coming to the rock show because it is really cool and has a lot of variety of rocks,” attendee Zac Gregerson said.
