The new school year is quickly approaching, which means another year of the Apples for Teachers awards that are given at the Carbon School District meetings.
Teachers are nominated by students, colleagues or parents of students for their outstanding effort and dedication. Due to the upcoming school year, it was prudent to award a Teacher of the Year through Apples for Teachers. This award came to light during the school board meeting that took place on Wednesday evening.
In January, teacher Charity Moore was given the award for said month. She was once again rewarded, although this time with the honor of the year. Angie Fausett, the parent that nominated Moore the first time around, spoke once again. She stated how highly she regards Moore and her ways of teaching, stating that nobody had gotten through to her son in the way that Moore did.
“Teachers are priceless resources in our community,” Fausett stated.
Students that nominate their teachers are awarded alongside the teachers. Fausett’s son, Easton, was given $100 while Moore was presented with a brand new Apple iPad. Moore will also be given a plaque once it has been completed.
