The 18th annual USU Eastern Bread ‘N Soup event kicked off Monday evening for the whole community to attend. Those in attendance were served up a hot bowl of chicken noodle soup, chili and cream of potato soup with a roll on the side.
This is the first of three nights that will be hosted throughout the month of November with proceeds benefiting the Carbon County Food Bank. This event is planned and coordinated by USU Eastern’s Dining Services, Carrie Icard and Terry Johnson with help of volunteers from USU Eastern Student Government and Sun Center.
“This is a great event and we enjoy the community coming out and supporting us,” said Terry Johnson, the head of the Sun Center.
The goal this time around is $2,000-3,000 to make a grand total of $50,000 that event organizers have donated throughout the years. Proceeds from the event have totaled $48,000 from the last 17 years.
Bread ‘N Soup Night takes place in the multi-purpose room of USU Eastern’s Jennifer Levitt Student Center. For the price of admission, each person receives two tickets, good for two bowls of soup. For those that wished to take their dinner home, to go containers were available.
Next Monday, the soups available will be cheese broccoli, clam chowder and tomato pasta. Each meal is served with a roll.
The whole community is encouraged to engage in this event.
