“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” Arthur Ashe spoke these words in honor of veterans who have served and protected our country.
Members of Carbon County also took time to honor veterans at a ceremony in Price on Friday. Neldon Huff, Commander of Price American Legion Post #3, led the ceremony, which began with a veterans walk down Price’s Main Street.
The walk ended at the Peace Gardens where local residents assembled to thank and celebrate those who have served. Veterans gathered on the stage at the sound of loud applause by friends, families and students from Pinnacle Canyon Academy.
Fifth grade students from Pinnacle then joined veterans in front of the crowd to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. This was followed by a 21 gun salute. Huff ended the ceremony by reading a letter he received from an eighth grade student thanking him and all veterans for their service and dedication to the country.
