The Carbon High Dinos hosted their first home swim meet of the season on Friday and represented the blue and white well with the girls’ team coming in second and the boys’ team bringing home third.
The girls started out with a bang as the 200-yard medley relay team made up of Megan Swasey, Sadie Crompton, Veronica Ibanez and Amanda Liu finished with a first-place time of 2:07.24, nearly four seconds before the second-place finisher.
Ibanez returned in the 200-yard free to bring home third while Liu brought home another first place for the home team in the 200-yard IM where the Lady Dino clocked in at 2:34.23, over fifteen seconds before the next finisher.
Shannon Baker scored a third-place finish in the 50-yard free while Crompton and Kacee Barrett represented in the 100-yard fly, finishing in first and third, respectively. Crompton managed to score a 1:15.84 finish.
Liu continued her action, taking second in the 100-yard free while teammate Ibanez grabbed another first for the Dinos in the 500-yard free, finishing at 6:15.28.
Crompton, Baker, Barrett and Kaisha Lott also managed to score a second-place finish as the relay team swam in the 200-yard free. Swasey also scored third in the 100-yard backstroke.
Crompton continued to grab the first-place finishes, dominating in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in at 1:21.05. Ibanez, Barrett, Lott and Liu brought home second as a team in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Tyson Swasey managed to score a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM. The 16-year-old would return along with teammates Josh McCourt, Chad Laursen and Tanner Martinez as the relay team managed to grab a collective fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley.
Laursen also managed a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard free while Tyson Swasey returned to take fifth in the 100-yard fly. Martinez would also bring home a fifth-place finish, though in the 100-yard free.
Tyson Swasey, McCourt, Martinez and Laursen would continue their teamwork as the four brought home a third-place finish in the 200-yard relay.
Martinez would return, this time with Christ Park, Matthew Torres and Dallen Tweddel, for a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard free, completing the meet.
