The Carbon High track team traveled to Vernal on Wednesday where the Dinos competed against other schools including Maple Mountain, Wasatch and Uintah before taking home a combined second-place finish.
While the boys’ team settled for the fourth, the girls’ team continued their strong showing, grabbing a second-place finish for the Blue and White.
Megan Swasey opened scoring for the Lady Dinos, grabbing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles while Diana Morley managed fifth in the same contest. Antonio Mecham finished second in the 110 meter hurdles while Harley Migliori finished third in the girls’ 100 meters.
Freshman Carson Frame came in fourth in the boys’ 100 meters with Emma Haddock finishing second in the 1600 meters. Swasey and Morley returned in the 400 meters, grabbing second and fourth, respectively. Allison Olson also finished in fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
Grace Broadbear and Regan Hanson added more Dino points with their first and second-place finishes in the 800 meters while Migliori managed another first-place win in the 200 meters. Derik Riley finished third in the 200 meters as well.
Emma Haddock also grabbed a first for Carbon in the 3200 meters while teammate Brittle Sharp also came in third in the same contest. James Bryner finished in fifth in the boys’ 3200.
Carbon’s next first-place came from the 4×400. Caitlyn Dimick also finished first for Carbon in the girls’ discuss with Maggie Powell and Yeraldy Flores grabbing fourth and fifth, respectively. Dimick returned in the javelin for another first.
Migliori and Naomi Mantz came in first and second in the girls’ long jump. Powell and Migliori would continue on in the shot put, bringing home first and second while Dimick and Mantz managed third and fifth in the high jump.
Rylan Chamberlain rounded out scoring for the Dinos, finishing in third for the Blue and White in the discus.
