Discussion of a new public safety building was the topic of a public hearing that opened the Green River City Council meeting Tuesday evening.
Site, size, scope and funding were considered for fire department housing as well as EMS headquarters. Some felt that there was no need to include the EMS facilities while others stated that it was not as economical to build two buildings but rather build both of them at the same time. The council will consider these comments and look at CIB grant possibilities and requirements as it progresses with the project.
Dean Bacon, Rangeland Aggregate, gave a presentation on an alternate type of road surface for road improvements in the city. He proposed a 30-40% savings by rotomilling old asphalt into the new surfacing. This is an Oregon-based company that is now located in Colorado. The council had several questions for him and Bacon said he will research their questions and contact them with more information in the future.
Denial for the Crystal Geyser Mountain Bike Trail was a result of a the bidding process not complying with city ordinances. The three bids received were very different and it was determined that in order to bid on a city project, the bidder must be a licensed contractor. This made it undesirable to accept the bids.
Approval was given to Ordinance 2017-02 amending the purchasing policy, Resolution R02-2017 updating animal control fines, the appointment of RAP Tax Advisory Committee, the commercial sewer adjustment policy and renewing the contract for city employees with PayScale. Ordinance No. 2017-01 amending the C-1 and C-3 Commercial Zoning was also approved.
S&S Farm was given a reduction in overage water assessment and Chow Hound was given approval to improve the alleyway adjacent to its property.
