Emery High FFA gave certificates and bronze pins for 67 chapter greenhands, six silver pins for chapter degree recipients and 10 gold pins for state degree recipients. These awards were distributed at the annual chapter awards banquet Wednesday evening to students who had worked hard to meet the requirements. Chapter advisor Justin Thornley thanked Mistie Christiansen for teaching an early bird class to ninth graders to give them an opportunity to complete four years in agriculture education and be able to apply for various degrees that require four years of instruction in their later FFA years.
The awards also included career development event achievements. The milk judging team won first place honors and will represent Utah at the national CDE competition this fall in Indianapolis. This team included Presley Bringhurst, Aubreyona Migliori, Dax Hall and Amanda Johansen. Migliori was the top ranking individual and Bringhurst was third. Riata Christiansen also won the state public speaking contest and will compete at nationals in October.
Many of the teams received gold and silver ranking at the CDE on the state level.
Honorary chapter member degrees were given to Blue and Cameron Jensen and Kirk and Mistie Christiansen. The chapter parliamentary procedure team ranked second and the conduct of chapter meetings team received Third.
Installation of new officers for the coming year concluded the evening. The officers are:
President – Riata Christiansen, Vice President – Thomas Behling, Secretary – Josie Gilbert, Treasurer -Korby Christiansen, Reporter – Presley Bringhurst, Historian – Amanda Johansen, Sentinel – Ethan Staples, and Community Chairman – William Leverton.
