Service Opportunities are Always Available

Members and leaders from the community gathered Tuesday morning at the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments offices for a presentation from JustServe.

JustServe is a free community service resource sponsored by the LDS church. Although the church sponsors the website, there are no religious ties. The website is used by faith, nonprofit, community and government organizations to post service opportunities. These projects can include many types of projects such as volunteering in schools or community clean ups.

Tim and Jan Blackburn are from Vineyard, Utah, just outside of the Orem area. They volunteer with JustServe and travel throughout Southern Utah to provide training in the program. During the training on Tuesday, they demonstrated how to register on the website and how to create projects through the site.

Signing up with JustServe is free and accessible from any computer, tablet or smartphone. No one will call you about projects, as it is on your own terms. Many of the projects listed on the site do provide contact information, however, if you have any further questions. You can also show different interests you have to find projects that fit for you. Some projects may list certain guidelines for the project, but are simple to follow and understand.

There isn’t a community in this world that could do without service. Volunteering your time and efforts can spark a chain reaction to bring in more volunteers. If you are interested in joining JustServe, you can register at www.justserve.org. If you have questions about how to register or work the site, JustServe provides a YouTube tutorial on how to complete registration.
