The Dino’s traveled to Eagle Mountain last week for their fourth contest of the year on The Ranches golf course. This venue with long fescue grass around the edges of the fairways along with rolling hills and well placed sand traps proved to be the toughest challenge of the year for Carbon. Add in some afternoon winds and the test was on for the Dinos.
Fortunately, the boys were able to battle the course and come out with another win. Ryan Gagon posted the tournament low with a 78 followed by teammates Ryker Smith with 79, Brady Gagon with 83 and Carson Martines with 85. Completing the Carbon scores were Tyler Yoklavich with 86, Nick Olson with 88, Zade Carrilo with 89 and Kaden Slavensky with 95.
Carbon’s team score of 325 added 15 strokes to their lead over second place Providence Hall, who had a score of 340. Union reported a 342, Delta had 368, American Leadership Academy had 373, Juab with 379 and Maeser finished with 460.
On Thursday, the Dinos will host a match at the Carbon Country Golf Course and look to improve on their 112 stroke lead in Region 14.
