Two Castle Country shoppers received a special treat on Tuesday morning as Helper City’s newest business opened its doors to the community. But the shopping spree of over $1,600 wasn’t for them, it was for a good cause.
The Toy Store & More features costumes, puzzles, puppets, pretend play, art supplies, coloring pads, stickers, crafts, play kitchens, cars, farm animals and more. Alida Farlaino and Lara Olson from TougHer took advantage of the store’s variety in a big way.
As part of a fundraiser hosted by the gym, ladies from TougHer raised over $1,600 to purchase toys for patients at Primary Children’s Hospital. Farlaino and Olson had the opportunity not only to purchase the toys from a local, small business, but also to be that business’ first customer.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to this and to Malarie Matsuda for giving us 30% off so the money we raised went farther,” Alida. “If you are shopping for holiday toys, please go check out her new store on Helper Main Street.”
Toy Store & More is the brainchild of Malarie Matsuda, Lita Riley and Sarah Lefler. The three women each bring something unique to the Helper business with Matsuda overseeing the toys while Riley brings candy as well as her hand made goat milk soap and baked goods from her Elodie Jane Bakery. Lefler will also be offering items from her Wellness Within line of essential oil holistic wellness products.
“I had so much fun this morning opening the doors to The Toy Store & More for Alida and Lara,” Matsuda shared. “I’m so grateful I was able to be a part in this.”
Shoppers can visit the Toy Store & More, located at 208 South on Helper’s Historic Main Street next to The Rio Theatre, Thursday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. While hours are subject to change, customers can stay up to date on current hours of operation and learn more about the business at its Facebook page.
For the month of October, customers can enjoy 20% off all toys as part of Melissa and Doug anniversary month.
