A new summertime event was proposed to the commissioners and community during the regularly scheduled Carbon County Commission meeting on Wednesday evening. Commissioner Jake Mellor, along with community members Karra Hillam, Valorie Marietti and Rachel Krompel, presented the Warrior Days celebration that they have joined together to create.
Slated to begin the day after the annual 4th of July Energy Days Celebration, the proposed Warrior Days would take place July 5-7. Commissioner Mellor stated that this event was created with specific warriors in mind and will focus on veterans and the youth of the community that have special needs. The event has a proposed movie night at the soccer field, motocross races, a soccer tournament, special needs rodeo, a three-band concert, a bull riding event and several other planned activities.
Also present at the commission meeting were two representatives of an entertainment company that Commissioner Mellor has been working with for the live entertainment aspect, who are bringing Darryl Worley to the event.
