Clutch Richfield pitching and timely hitting propelled the Richfield Wildcats to a huge 15-2 win over the Emery Spartans Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.
Richfield had 15 hits in the game, with four of them going for extra bases, including a home run by the Wildcats’ Emmitt Hafen. Emery added seven hits in the game, with singles coming off the bats of Kyson Stilson, Rance Jensen, Easton Gordon, Colton Willson, Brax Jensen, Jace Collard and Jared Snow.
Emery was unable to push across any runs until plating one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Richfield scored 11 of their 15 runs in spanning the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Cade Brazier took the loss on the hill after giving up nine earned runs on 12 hits. Jace Collard pitched in the final inning, allowing five runs, only one earned, while striking out two batters.
Emery (11-10, 4-7 Region 15) will host 2A North Sevier on Friday. The Spartans will wrap up the regular season at Richfield on Tuesday.
