Active Re-Entry’s Independent Living Programs is featuring a brand new class aimed at helping those that are plagued with arthritis issues. Tai Chi for Arthritis is a relaxing and low-impact form of exercise and is known to be ideal for older individuals.
Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise and promotes flexibility, balance and strength. Similar to dancing, the movements in the exercise are learned like steps and consists of slow but continuous whole-body movement. Those that wish to participate will learn warm-ups, ways to cool down as well as 12 different introductory forms.
Modifications will be set up for those who need to remain seated during these classes. The classes, which begin on Oct. 2, will run for eight weeks and will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Taught by Sensei Larry S. Martinez, the Tai Chi classes will be located at Wado Ryu Karate School, 48 South 300 East, in Price.
For more information on the classes or to sign up, please call Lisa at Active Re-Entry at (435) 637-4950.
