Following the resignation/retirement of Emery County Treasurer Steven Barton, a motion was made and approved by the Emery County Commission to appoint Josie Stilson as the intern county treasurer.
This appointment is temporary until the Republican Central Committee meets on Oct. 24 to appoint a replacement for Barton. Stilson will receive the same benefits as Barton had at the time of his resignation, which was effective Oct. 1. He, however, plans to volunteer in the office.
Stilson, a native of Emery County, received her Master’s degree in Accounting at SUU and is a CPA. She is the daughter of Kurt and Becky Larsen of Ferron and married to Dr. Evan Stilson, and the couple have four children. She previously worked for the university in Cedar City before moving to Elmo to raise her children. She has been employed at the treasurer’s office for two years.
