Thursday’s Emery County Historical Society meeting began with a number of violin musical pieces played by Stephanie Behling. She showcased a violin medley and the theme from “The Secret Garden.”
Next, program director Francis Swasey announced a young performer, Chance Justice, who was recently awarded the “Biggest Liar Award” at the Timpanogos Story Telling Festival. He related his tall tale of a visit to a museum.
Then, Steve Tanner shared several original cowboy poems that related several of his life experiences on the Bookcliffs and San Rafael Desert. Following, LeeAnne Seely related several family folklore stories and the evening closed with Francis Sawsey sharing a favorite of hers, “Christmas Treasures.”
To conclude, historical society chairwoman Lori Ann Larsen announced a fundraiser yard sale in the spring. Funds will used to help the historical department digitize additional years of the Emery County Progress.
The winners of the quilt and afghan ticket sales were also drawn as the evening came to a close. Winning the Hiawatha quilt was Suzanne Anderson and the afghan went to Roy Jones. Larsen also noted that next month’s meeting will on the second Thursday, Nov. 8, instead of the fourth because of the holiday season.
