The Emery County Republican Central Committee met Wednesday evening at the county administration building for the purpose of choosing a replacement for retiring county treasurer Steven Barton.
With the retraction of one application just hours before the meeting, questioning became easy and Josie Stilson was chosen for recommendation to the commissioners for ratification. Stilson has been working in the treasurer’s office for the past two years and was recently appointed by the commissioners to fill the position until the Republicans could choose their candidate.
While assembled, the committee discussed the questions and propositions on the upcoming ballot. Members also discussed the state party’s standing on caucus and signatures for candidates seeking election. A time and place for the Lincoln Day Dinner and county convention were also discussed but decisions were postponed until the next meeting.
