The Panthers won their first playoff game in school history last year but will feature no return starters from the third place team in region. Despite this, head coach Eric Hansen believes they will progress from last season.
“We are a better team this year that works better together,” he said.
Although there are not any returners, Ben Scott and Daniel Stoddard received considerable playing time a season ago. “Ben is scrappy, the ball is his baby and he wants it all the time,” said Hansen. Stoddard is the team’s go-to defender.
Wayne and Monticello finished first and second in region respectively a year ago. They are projected to be tough again, according to Hansen. But the Panthers also have their eyes on Green River as they could be a surprise talent in the region.
Pinnacle hopes to use the experience they gained last year, especially in the state tournament, to find better success. Hansen believes they will improve this year and go deeper in the playoffs.
