The first order of business that the Carbon County Commissioners tackled at their meeting on Wednesday was to recognize the December employee of the month. As per usual, this award was announced by Rose Barnes, who informed all that this month’s honor went to Don Johnson, the county’s safety director.
Johnson was nominated by the animal shelter. However, Barnes stated that she would like to personally take some time to speak on him. Johnson has been with the county for 16 years, two of those years serving as the director. Barnes stated that Johnson does an amazing job; safety is not to be taken lightly and is a difficult job.
The safety director position is also a job that often goes unnoticed, Barnes said. Johnson was noted by Barnes as working well with the other employees to ensure that they understand the importance of safety.
“He really puts his heart and soul into the position,” Barnes stated.
Commissioner Casey Hopes also reflected on Johnson’s hard work, stating that wherever he is needed, he pitches in. Johnson assists in many various ways, he said.
