Spend a day exploring the new exhibitions in geology, paleontology, and archaeology of eastern Utah at the Prehistoric Museum for free. Children’s activities will be available from 10:00 – 2:00.
Come join us and have fun engaging in the museum activities for all ages. Make a hand puppet of your favorite prehistoric animal. Learn the ancient archaeology craft of cordage, split twig figurines, and slate drilling for jewelry making. Grab a bite from Waffle Love food truck in the museum parking lot. Then check out the new exhibit in the Special Exhibitions gallery Making Sense of Archaeology, it has lots of cool 3-D printed touch artifacts related to Utah history. Don’t miss Kevin T. Jones and Layne Miller while they present their new book Standing on the Walls of Time: Ancient Art of Utah’s Cliffs and Canyons at 3pm. Co-sponsors include the Castle Valley Archaeological Society and the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
Explore the new exhibits in the Paleontology Hall. Soaring above our beloved Allosaurus are two new pterosaurs. Several new exhibits explore Jurassic dinosaur life stories including eggs, growth and injuries. There is even a new crocodile discovery. A new case features 500 million year old Cambrian fossils of the first complex animal forms. We hope to see you here!
The Prehistoric Museum features fossils and artifacts from Utah. The special exhibition Making Sense of Archaeology is located on the second floor of the museum and runs from Thursday March 28 through Saturday June 1, 2019. The museum is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. General admission rates apply.
