Press Release
Our community’s first NICA High School Mountain Bike competition is coming to Price on October 4 and 5 and is slated to bring many to the area from Lehi to St. George! The Utah High School Cycling League, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organized in 2011 and is an affiliate league of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. They facilitate the development of interscholastic cycling teams/clubs for grades 7-12 and provide a high quality mountain bike racing experience that emphasizes the value of each participant, camaraderie among peers, a positive sporting behavior and the cultivation of health over competition.
The course was created just North of the Toy Atwood Baseball complex (Posse Grounds) in Price City and those that created it are requesting assistance in breaking in the new course. This can be done by cycling or walking the track which can be accessed at 1000 North and Cedar Hills Drive. It is being classified as a non-motorized community trail. As of today, there have been many local businesses and community members that have been invaluable in the creation of this amazing new course by providing equipment, materials and countless volunteer hours.
They are: USU Eastern, Altitude Cycle, Price City, USU Eastern Heavy Equipment program, Waste & Water Logistics, Emery Telcom, Carbon County, Nelco Contractors, Carbon High Mountain Bike Team and many more enthusiastic community members. This event is projected to attract over 3,000 visitors (participants and family members). Local businesses and residents are being encouraged to get Price City spruced up and prepared for the influx of these visitors.
