Richard Davis, Hillary Stirling, David Westerby, Alexia Corbett, Nils Bergeson and Susan Horne make up the six sponsors for the Unite for Term Limits statewide initiative.
This initiative would ensure that a state executive officer would be prohibited from seeking reelection if by the end of the current term served the officer had served for eight or more consecutive years. It would also prohibit an officer from allowing the name of said state executive officer from being printed or displayed as running.
Furthermore, the initiative concludes by stating that the term limits that are established do not apply to any individual that is occupying the particular office on November 2, 2020.
A number of public hearings are being hosted throughout Utah in order to gather input for this initiative and is being hosted by the aforementioned six sponsors. There will be hearings in Washington, Nephi, Springville, Roosevelt, East Millcreek, Logan and Price.
The hearing in Price is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 29 and will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the USU Eastern boardroom. Those that are interested in having their voices heard on this topic should mark the date on their calendars now. All are welcome to attend.
