Those in the community would be hard-pressed not to notice the recent project that took place on Highway 6 between the golf course and Castleview Hospital.
Following the project, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) contacted those at Carbon County and questioned if they had a use for the old asphalt. The county agreed they would find a way to put it to good use. Following that, they worked to locate an area that needed asphalt that also had a rock base set underneath.
With these qualifications, it was decided that the Carbon County Recreation soccer field parking lot located at the fairgrounds would be the perfect candidate.
Commissioner Tony Martines stated that, with some assistance from the county’s road department, the asphalt was recently installed. Those that utilize the soccer fields for various reasons can now enjoy a smoother parking experience.
