Carbon traveled to Blanding on Thursday to take on region leader San Juan.
The Dinos surprised San Juan with a first set win 25-19. The Lady Broncos answered back, however, taking the next two sets 25-22 and 25-20. The Dinos did not hang their heads and won their fourth set, 25-22, to force a fifth. Unfortunately for the Dinos, San Juan dominated the last set 15-7 to avoid the upset.
Three separate Dinos had double digit kills including Cora Lamborn with 13, Emma Christensen with 12 and Gracie Salas with 11. Sophie Noyes had a team-high seven blocks while Katie Jones led with 20 digs and Makenna Blanc recorded 44 assists.
The Lady Dinos (8-6, 1-4 Region 12) will get another crack at San Juan (16-2, 5-0 Region 12) at home on Tuesday. They will then host round two of the rivalry match with Emery (5-10, 0-6 Region 12) on Thursday. The Dinos took the first meeting 3-1 in the Spartan Center.
