The Lady Spartans welcomed Millard into the Spartan Center on Tuesday night. The two team were evenly matched and their equality was on display all night as every set was close.
The Lady Eagles pulled away late in the first two sets to win 25-19 and 25-21 respectively. Millard then jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead in the third set and was threatening to sweep Emery. The Lady Spartans battled back to tie it at 18. The teams traded points down the stretch before Emery was able to grab the must win set 26-24.
It was Emery’s turn to run away late in the fourth set with the 25-21 win, forcing a fifth set. In the decisive set, Emery trailed 11-7 before the Lady Spartans ripped off a 5-1 to tie the game at 12. It was all in vain though as the Lady Eagles got the last laugh, defeating Emery 15-13 to win 3-2.
Emery (5-11, 0-6 Region 12) will head to Carbon for a rematch against the Lady Dinos (8-7, 1-5 Region 12) on Thursday evening. That game will be streamed live on etvnews.com/livesports.
