The Lady Spartans needed a crucial road win against Richfield on Tuesday to remain in the running for a region title. The Lady Wildcats, on the other hand, were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 earlier this season to Emery in Castle Dale.
Richfield came out tough and found the back of the net three times in the first half. The Lady Wildcats doubled their score in the second half while giving up a couple of goals to take a whopping 6-2 victory. The Lady Spartans were not able to overcome the first half deficit.
With the loss and Carbon’s win over Grand, Emery’s region title chances vanished. The Lady Spartans (8-7, 7-2 Region 12) will host Carbon (13-1, 9-0 Region 12) on Thursday with the opportunity to hand the Lady Dinos their only region loss.
