On Oct. 4 just before the Helper First Friday festivities began, there was a special gathering on Helper Main Street as the city’s mayor, Lenise Peterman, was presented a community service award.
The award was given to her for the outstanding service she has participated in and organized for the city. Lenda Leek, who presented the award to the mayor, expressed kind words about all that has been done for Helper.
Those who were present cheered and applauded Mayor Peterman. She gave a few words, saying how she appreciated the award and how grateful she is to serve her community.
