Carbon had a tall task on Tuesday as it headed to face the 3A runner-ups, the Grantsville Cowboys. The Lady Cowboys delivered the first blow and put Carbon in a seven-point hole after one quarter, 20-13. The Lady Dinos fought back in the second and overtook Grantsville with a 23-13 period. Carbon held a 36-33 advantage at half.
The Lady Dinos struggled offensively in the third quarter and trailed 45-43 heading into the final quarter of play. Grantsville controlled the fourth to hand Carbon its first loss of the season, 64-57.
Jordan Bianco had a game-high 30 points on 14 attempts. Cora Lamborn recored her first double-double of the year with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Diana Morley and Makenna Blanc led the Lady Dinos with three steals each while the former also added two blocks. The Lady Dinos could not contain the two-headed monster of Ashlee Edwards and Maison White. The duo combined for 44 of Grantsville’s 64 points.
Carbon will participate in the Shannon Johnson Classic Tournament after the break. The Lady Dinos (1-1) will face Springville (0-1) in the first game of the tourney on Thursday, Dec. 5.
