Little Lambs Foundation for Kids is a nonprofit organization that provides diapers and baby supplies to low-income families. The organization also gifts comfort kits to children who are placed in foster care, entering emergency shelters and escaping domestic violence.
“Little Lambs Foundation for Kids provides Utah children and families with basic necessities that they can’t afford or otherwise do not have access to,” the organization shared.
Although Little Lambs is based in Logan, those involved serve children throughout the state, which was shown as a volunteer delivered donations to Price last week. Bridget Luke Crane had a vehicle loaded with kits as she traveled to Price to donate before making her way to Moab.
“Our Little Lambs comfort kits are making a huge difference in the lives of children that are transitioning into foster care,” the foundation shared on social media. “Thank you for your support so we can continue to help these little ones during such a traumatic time in their lives.”
According to the foundation, there is an average of 2,900 Utah children in the foster care system at any given time. That is why Little Lambs provides comfort kits to every Department of Child and Family Services throughout the state on a continuous basis. These kits serve children entering foster care from newborn babies to those up to the age of 17.
“During a foster care removal, the children are removed quickly from their home due to neglect and other dangerous situations. Getting the child into a safe environment is the first priority of social workers and police officers, therefore, the child’s personal items are left behind,” Little Lamb shared. “Every bag or backpack is packed with love and is filled with items to provide comfort, support and hope to our littlest community members during the most traumatic time of their lives.”
Each comfort kit includes a new backpack or diaper bag, plush animal, blanket, book, hygiene items, socks, coloring books, snacks and more. Items are hand-selected for each age range and gender.
