Late last week, the Utah Department of Natural Resources released a proclamation ending the 2020 closed fire season.
This proclamation outlined that most of the state of Utah has received precipitation with more in the forecast while fuel conditions have improved markedly. It was also stated that wildlife danger has moderated throughout the state.
With these things in mind, Utah Fire Management Officer Brett Ostler proclaimed that the closed fire season, which was previously extended past its ordinary date of Oct. 31, ended at midnight on Friday, Nov. 13.
Following the end of the closed fire season, open burning is permitted in compliance with the Utah State statute.
