Carbon School District Press Release

We are thrilled to recognize two outstanding Carbon School District Employees for the 2023-2024 school year. Each school nominated an Employee of the Year and a Teacher of the Year. We then assembled a committee with district administration, CCEA representation and last year’s winners to select the 2024 recipients.

Teacher of the Year honors go to Gail Scoville. Gail is an English teacher at Carbon High School who began working for the district in 1995. She is known and loved for her energy, positivity, and passion. She has taken on many extra duties over the years, including Debate Advisor, Sterling Scholar Advisor and English Department Head. Her nominating colleagues and students wrote that Gail, “Always encourages students to and pushes them to be the best they can be”.

“Gail’s tenacity, drive, passion, and genuine care for each of her students are some of the few things that make her a fantastic teacher”. Gail is extremely dedicated and can be found hard at work before and after school and throughout the summer in her classroom full of rubber ducks.  She is a wonderful teacher and is very deserving of this recognition.

Employee of the Year honors go to Torie Snyder. Torie has worked for the district since 2017 and is our preschool teacher at Wellington Elementary. She is kind and patient with her students and colleagues. She is known throughout the school as the caregiver who will check on everyone. Her empathy and attention to others has made an enormous impact on the staff and students.

“Miss Torie is always creating fun and engaging activities for her preschoolers and always shows them love and care”. She goes above and beyond to make sure all students are enjoying class and learning”.  Torie demonstrates perseverance each day and ensures that her students and colleagues are cared for. She is incredibly deserving of this award!
