On Friday, June 21, the Manti-La Sal National Forest hosted their 16th annual Special Needs Fishing Day at Helper’s Gigliotti Pond. This is a free community event for those that have special needs and all fishing supplies were provided.
Anglers young and old in attendance were treated to a free lunch following the event. Any assistance needed while fishing was provided by forest service employees and other volunteers to ensure that a good time was had by all.
The Manti-La Sal National Forest thanked the partners that generously supported this event. Wolverine Fuels provided culinary support, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources provided fishing tackle, Helper City provided tables and chairs, the Bureau of Land Management provided personnel support and Emery County Recreation provided shade canopies.
“Special Needs fishing day at the Gigliotti Pond in Helper was a blast,” the forest service shared. “If you couldn’t make it this year, we’ll see you next year!”
